The Jesus Seminar's Dr. Robert J. Miller of Juniata College returns to Silverside Church in Wilmington, Delaware, the last weekend in September. Silverside Church is affiliated with The Center for Progressive Christianity. The Community for Integrative Learning is joining with Silverside Church in sponsoring the event.

Previously, Dr. Miller and Dr. Hal Taussig spoke at Silverside as a part of a Jesus Seminar on the Road event.  Both speakers were very well received by the congregation and the community at large.

The topic will be "The Death of Jesus:  Destiny or Disaster?".Many theological progressives think of Jesus' death as a purely historical event, a culmination of his various conflicts with Rome. In contrast, numerous conservative Christians take Jesus' death as an event both willed and required by God, leading to doctrines of atonement.

Dr. Miller will be delivering two lectures and preaching in the Sunday morning Gathering.
