Ayurveda literally means the “science of life” and is perhaps the oldest natural healing system, with origins in India dating back 5,000 years. It is a timeless science based on the laws of nature – laws that have not changed since the dawn of man. Its principles and practices are as or more relevant today, as we have gotten further and further away from nature with increased use of processed and genetically-modified foods, reliance on technology and pharmacology, work demands and lifestyles with little time for rest and relaxation, and for many, the lack of a spiritual compass.

Ayurveda has at its core the trinity of life - mind, body, and spirit – with a truly holistic system of health and healing. Each individual is viewed as having a unique and perfect blueprint from conception. Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach to bring the individual back into that blueprint through proper nutrition, breathwork, bodywork, yoga, and meditation.

The workshop

After an overview of the history and philosophy of Ayurveda, Alison will lead us through an exploration of its basic principles and practices. You will come away with some practical tools and suggestions for maintaining and improving your health and nutrition.
